Finding Yourself, Filling Your Space

Sometimes ago, I read the story of a certain woman who spends about #420,000 monthly to look like Kim Kardashian. She believes that there is a seemingly insatiable appetite out there for Kim. If she succeeds in looking like her, she’ll start getting paid to act like her at events.

This may be a fantastic idea in the Western culture which is all about making celebrities out of every one who can pay the price. But it definitely makes little or no sense here in Nigeria. How would I pay someone to act like Genevieve Nnaji for instance in my son’s birthday?

Now, it is my understanding from my interaction with people that many of us lack the knowledge of our true identity and spend a lot more than  #420,000 trying to be who we are not. We go around wearing masks, hiding our true selves while we run around acting other people because we lack knowledge of who we truly are. Many of us are victims of a massive and gross identity theft!

We spend so much to buy what we do not need to impress people we do not even like. We trade our uniqueness for the opinion of people simply because we are not aware of who we truly are- who we were created to be and why we are here in the first place.

The key to living a life of impact and leaving our footprints in the sands of time lies in the understanding of our identity and purpose. Without the knowledge of who we truly are, we cannot release and maximise our full potentials. Without the knowledge of our purpose, we become victims of life’s greatest tragedy.

So, how do we find our true selves and fill the space we were created to fill? I believe the answer can only be found in The Creator’s manual for life. We are not products of a big bang incident. We have a creator and He alone can tell us why and who He created us to be. No one knows a product more than its manufacturer. Thus, it is in our relationship with God that we find our true selves and understand our purpose.

What God says about us is the only valid authority on who we are. We must not settle for counterfeit when we can be original. It is by the understanding of ourselves, which we get from our interaction with God that we can fully realize what we are capable of doing and why we are here.

Who you are is a great pointer to why you are here. As you understand your Personality, Abilities, Compassion and Experiences, you can set your P.A.C.E, and fill your space.

This week, I encourage you to take strategic steps to find and accept your true identity by relating with your creator. Understand your purpose and fill your unique spot. Be yourself, everyone else is taken!

Blessed? I’ll love to hear from you. Please leave a comment!

You matter to me always!

  1. “Many of us
are victims of a massive and gross identity
theft!” – this is so true…I guess it is one of the bane of today’s celebration of so called “celebrities”. People no longer want to find out who they are, they just want to pattern their lives according to the motif of the world’s celebrities.
    God help us all.
