John 1:16-18 MSG
No one has ever seen God, not so much as a glimpse. This one-of-a-kind God-Expression, who exists at the very heart of the Father, has made him plain as day.
As I read this scripture, my mind raced back in time to a story I once heard. There was this boy who listened attentively to a minister describe the life of Jesus- his good works, lifestyle and personality. At the end of the seession, the boy got everyone startled when he suddenly announced that he had seen Jesus before! When asked where and how, he simply asserted that Jesus was their next door neighbor!
Men have not seen God. They don’t know what he looks like. All they have is the idea of a man in the sky with an unquestionable power to do good and evil.
But we have seen God. We carry God on our inside. Just like Jesus, we have the responsibility to make God plain to people around us. Our lives should speak of the God’s greatness, His goodness and His love.
Perhaps, the illustration of the Sun-Moon relationship throw more light to the matter. It is said that the moon has no light of its own. It only reflects the lights of the Sun. Likewise, we are called to reflect God’s light and manifest His character.
This is the point of being conformed to the image of Christ. As we live to maximize our potentials in the pursuit of our life assignment, let this be our natural response to life’s situations: What Will Jesus Do?
